Gordon Ilett BSc (Hons) MCOptom

Gordon graduated from City University in 1984 with an Honours degree in Optometry and Visual Science. He then undertook his pre-registration training at Moorfields Eye Hospital Department of Contact Lenses and Ocular Prosthetics and in Private Practice qualifying in August 1985.

After qualifying Gordon worked in private practice as well as at The City University and The Institute of Optometry as a clinical supervisor. He worked as a sessional optometrist in hospital practice for Queen Mary’s NHS Trust for 18 years between 1988 and 2006 at Darenth Valley Hospital and spent some time setting up a paediatric low vision clinic at Queen Mary’s. He became a partner in a small group of practices in 1988 when he started work at Linklaters, buying Leslie Warren Opticians from Peter Reeve in 1998. In 2005 he became sole owner of these two practices.

Gordon is a pre-registration supervisor for the College of Optometrists, sits on the Fitness to Practice Panel of the General Optical Council, is Chairman of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich Local Optical Committee, is a director of Special Olympics Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes GB, and sits on other local and national committees concerning diabetes, and learning disability. He lectures on the foundation degree course in Health and Social Care at Canterbury Christchurch University, as well as providing continuing education lectures to optometrists, practice nurses and GPs. Over the past 20 years he has developed a special interest in examining patients with learning disability and works alongside charities such as Kent Association for the Blind, RNIB and See Ability in promoting the importance of eye examinations and eye health for this population. In recent years Gordon has worked closely with local Primary Care Trusts developing new pathways for delivering eye-care, and has been appointed as an Optometrist with Special Interest (Opwsi) in both the Bexley and West Kent PCT areas.

Gordon is married to Anna with three children, a daughter Libby and two sons Christopher and Joseph. He surprisingly still finds time to enjoy skiing, cycling, archery, golf and many other activities with his family.


Sara Windsor BSc (Hons) MCOptom

Sara graduated from Cardiff University in 1993 with a first class honours degree in Ophthalmic Optics. Her professional qualification was gained in 1994 following a pre-registration year under the supervision of Gordon Ilett in private practice at Linklaters Optometrists in Bexleyheath and at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Apart from a year off to travel the world in 1996, Sara has practiced within the Linklater group since qualifying and at Leslie Warrens since 1998. Married to Mark in 1999 and having two girls, Anna and Alice, she now works on a part time basis combining professional and family life and thoroughly enjoying both.


Jane Harper BSc(Hons) MCOptom

Jane attended Aston University in Birmingham and graduated in 1998, then gained her professional qualification following a year in private practice with hospital placements in Peterborough. After qualifying in August 1999, she moved to London and worked as a resident Optometrist in a small multiple branch for over 3 years, where she was involved in a Diabetic Retinopathy screening programme.Following a few months travelling, Jane decided on a new challenge and came to work at Linklaters Bexleyheath. Again, here she is involved with Bexley's Diabetic Screening and is currently training to become an Optometrist with Special Interest, which will involve working more closely with Ophthalmologists and GP's. In her spare time, Jane is usually found spending too much money in record shops, or pounding the streets of London in her running shoes


Jigna Teli BSc (Hons) MCOptom
 
Jigna graduated from Cardiff University in 2001 with an honours degree in Optometry and Vision Sciences. She completed her pre-registration training under the supervision of Gordon Ilett in 2002. During this year she worked at both Leslie Warren in Sevenoaks and at Linklaters in Bexleyheath as well as spending time working at Moorfields Eye Hospital and in the Low Vision Clinic at Darenth Valley Hospital. She has since worked full time for the group and has enjoyed developing her professional skills.
 
Jigna has recently completed two City University MSc modules in The Optometric Management of Glaucoma and Diabetic Eye Disease, which will lead to a postgraduate certificate in Clinical Optometry. She is accredited to carry out diabetic screening in Bexley and sees diabetic patients in West Kent for Slit Lamp Biomicroscopy.
 
Jigna’s friends and family keep her fully occupied in her spare time.


Jasmine Prentice BSc (Hons) MCOptom

Jasmine graduated from Aston University in Birmingham in 2003 with a first class honours degree in Optometry. She gained her professional qualification in July 2004 after completing her pre-registration year under the supervision of Gordon Ilett at Linklaters and Leslie Warren. During this year Jasmine also worked at Moorfields Eye Hospital, and in the eye department at Darenth Valley Hospital.
 
Jasmine has practiced at Linklaters and Leslie Warren since qualification thoroughly enjoying her profession. Keen to continue to work within the hospital environment she also works alongside a general ophthalmologist at The Princess Royal Hospital, Farnborough, on a fortnightly basis.  She has also completed two Msc modules at City University in glaucoma and diabetes management and is now accredited to see diabetic patients in both Sevenoaks and Bexleyheath.

In her spare time Jasmine enjoys visits to the theatre and salsa dancing.


Lindsay Rountree BSc (Hons) MCOptom

Lindsay graduated from Cardiff University in 2006 with an honours degree in Optometry and Vision Sciences.  She gained her professional qualification in July 2007, after completing her pre-registration training under the supervision of Gordon Ilett. During this year, she worked at both Linklaters in Bexleyheath and Leslie Warren in Sevenoaks, as well as working at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Princess Royal University Hospital. She now works full time at both practices.
 
Since qualifying, Lindsay has undertaken extra training in Diabetic Retinopathy, and is now accredited to screen diabetic patients by Slit Lamp Biomicroscopy. This is a nationally recognised qualification that is particularly useful for patients who are not suitable for the usual Diabetic Retinal Screening Schemes. She has recently signed up for a course at City University on the Optometric Management of Glaucoma, with a view to working towards her Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Optometry.
 
Lindsay has also previously volunteered at an RNIB vacation scheme for children with visual impairment, and has worked with Gordon Ilett at the Special Olympics in Glasgow.
Any spare time that she has is usually spent with family and friends.


Graham Murrell FCOptom
 
Graham owned his own group of  practices in London and Tunbridge Wells for over 30 years, before downsizing and working as principal of Woodfalls in Tunbridge Wells. Six years ago Graham sold his business to the Leightons group and continued to work for them on a consultancy basis.

Graham was a keen horseman and show jumper in his youth, before taking up sailing, golf and skiing all of which he still enjoys.  He has been pre-registration supervisor to many well known optometrists including Gordon Ilett.  He has clinical interests in contact lenses, and specific learning disability. Graham now works at Leslie Warren Opticians on a Friday.


Hazel Willby FBDO - Practice Manager – Leslie Warren, Sevenoaks

Hazel joined Leslie Warren in January 2000 as Practice Manager. She has previously worked in both independent and multiple practices in the South-East as a dispensing optician, with two short breaks for the birth of her daughters Emma and Josephine. Hazel qualified in 1984 after studying at City & East London College in Islington. Since then she has seen (and worn) some amazing spectacle styles, and has a keen interest in the fashion side of dispensing, while not losing sight of the technical and practical aspects. Hazel has attended courses on frame and face shapes, colours (colour-me-beautiful) and styling, along with many courses on the technical aspects of lens and frame materials and optics.

Hazels hobbies are figure skating (more watching than participating now), Art and design, and reading sci-fi/fantasy novels, which along with her role as mother keep her fully occupied in her spare time.


Claire Wheeler FBDO -Practice Manager – Linklaters, BexleyheathLeaving school after A levels, Claire worked in banking for three years. Following a decision to make a career change she started work as a trainee dispensing optician for Linklaters in 1997, and attended the three year day release course in Dispensing Optics at City and Islington College, London. Following qualification Claire was appointed manager of Linklaters in Welling, and continued studying achieving her ABDO certificates in management levels 1 & 2.In March 2003 Claire took a three month sabbatical to travel around the world, fulfilling a personal ambition. On her return she was appointed manager of Linklaters Bexleyheath where she has continued to develop her skills. After ten years in optics Claire takes pride in offering the highest possible standard of care for our patients, also enjoying the responsibility of managing a busy practice
